Capital Cascade Trail |
Who: Please join the Trust for Public Land in welcoming nationally recognized greenways expert Chuck Flink, president of Greenways Incorporated, to Tallahassee.
What: A community meeting at which Mr. Flink will share with us how communities around the country have preserved parks, encouraged economic growth and strengthened neighborhoods through the development of community greenways. When: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2002 Where: Myers Park Community Center, 912 Myers Park Drive Discussion will center around the future of Tallahassee’s Capital Cascade Trail, a corridor extending from Franklin Boulevard through Cascades Park, down Gaines Street and eventually to Lake Munson Slough (Map 3 in the Blueprint 2000 Plan.) With the creation of the Trail and its associated parks, revitalized business district and community plazas, Tallahassee has an unparalleled opportunity to change the face of downtown. The Trail has the potential to give residents and visitors the centrally-located open space they need for community events, revitalize an economically challenged area of the city, preserve and connect historic neighborhoods, create an entryway to the capitol complex from the airport, and solve many of the city’s stormwater and drainage challenges. The public is encouraged to attend. |
