Magnolia Bay Development - Alert!
A proposed marina, brainchild of a retired doctor from St.
Petersburg and a Treasure Island developer, would require the
destruction of 105 acres of coastal wetlands on the rural Taylor
County coast, and the excavation of a 2-mile long, 100-foot-wide
deep-water channel through 36 acres of mature sea grass.
Magnolia Bay would pack 873 boats into wet slips and a dry
dock, as well as offer a public ramp for 300 boats a day. The
developers from paved-over Pinellas County also would like to
build condos for 7,000 residents, a hotel, 280,000 square feet
of commercial space and a golf course.

City Can Save More Without Coal Plant
Navigant (one of the city of Tallahassee’s energy consultants) found that by
continuing to use natural gas and adding an aggressive energy efficiency

almost six times greater than the $1.9 million in savings for the city projected
from the coal plant, and customers who take advantage of efficiency
opportunities would save even more. Read the entire eye-opening report.
